Planted Seed
Looking back on my life I can’t remember a time I did not walk with Jesus. As a young child when fear engulfed me it was to Him I turned for comfort.
Being raised in the Catholic faith was natural since my Mother was of that faith and Dad had none. Our parents sacrificed to send us to parochial school and all four of us graduated from Catholic grammar school.
While attending Catholic school, I had a strong desire to enter the convent and become a nun, but that was not to be. At the age of fifteen, we moved to California. It was both a wonderful and sad move. My parents and family did not come with me. Because of health reasons this move was necessary. In California, God had a place for me with my loving, believing Aunt & Uncle.
At the very young age of 17 ½ I met, fell in love with and married my beloved Don; and for the past forty years have thanked my Lord for these challenging, growing, loving and at times, difficult years.
Some twenty years ago, I knew there was something missing in my life. Although Jesus was very much a part of it, His Word was not. A dear friend of mine invited me to a bible study of the book of Philippians. Wow, a new world opened!! His promises, words of encouragement and the assurance of His salvation helped me build a stronger foundation for myself and my family. What would I have done in some of the troubled times without His word. How many times He picked me up, hugged me, and said, “Ann, I am with you, go to my word and I will lead you and take you through this.”
Today I am who I am because my dear Mother planted the seed, the nuns at school watered it and finally, Jesus brought me to full bloom. Because of Him I can face tomorrow.
